Back from the dead!

As Unreal Tournament 4 was facing an uncertain future, many disappared from the community, including hosts of the Bunnytracks services. As a consequnce, we had to rebuild services if we ever wanted BT to return. The necessary people to rebuild came back and now the BT services are rebuilt! Check out the hubs page. Also, a much-deserved shoutout to these folks running services & keeping the entire UT4 community alive:

UT4 Unofficial Update - Replacement accounts system for UT4 & improvements.

UT4Ever - Replacement UT4 installers & ongoing improvements.

UT4 Custom Content - Custom content repository & redirect.

UnrealPUGs (EU) - Creating gameplay content & hosting new events.

UT4 PUGs (NA) - Creating gameplay content & hosting new events.

NEW MAPS

Here are some of the latest additions you may have missed, all created by Ransom:

  • Surf - Easy difficulty. Tries to emulate the CS surf movement!
  • Return - Hard difficulty. A unique map that requires returning to the starting line.
  • Chill - Hard difficulty. Trains you on all the DM-Chill movement tricks that you may or may not know about.
  • The Gauntlet - Insane difficulty. It is a collection of difficult tricks from various maps and some new ideas as well.

BT 4.6 - “more speed!?” edition is going live!

HUB owners download here!

FEATURES

  • Added a segment time system, based on map checkpoints & gates. Every time you cross a segment point, a message shows your time and, if applicable, the difference compared to your best run. Your reference run will be your best starting after this update (not your best registered in database). This is first iteration and might need further tweaking.
  • Added a speedometer widget on HUD.
  • Players can now request map change, from a button in help menu. When strict majority is reached, a timer will be set according to current top record (up to 300s). If all players vote, the match ends immediately.

CHANGES

  • Reworked help menu to use mouse cursor. Keybinds are now rebindable in help menu, and keytracker/speedometer visibility can be toggled there.
  • Added map author in leaderboard (finally).
  • Spectating a player now shows his run timer on top right.

BUG FIXES

  • Checkpoint should not activate anymore when respawning on it, causing potential issues such as re-saving with less health.

2019 recap

After the last post, several sparse events happened which I did not bother to announce. So here is a recap!

AirRace2 was released by irridium77. The map is noticeably harder than its predecessor, but about in line with irridium's other releases like LavaKek and ChatoKek.

CrashOut was released by Metalfist. After an experimental shell up for beta-testing and exploit-finding, we now have a gorgeous meshed map, based on the original Unreal theme!

Sebastien_Klof released two additional maps. Grenadier is another weapon map like H.O.P, but focused on grenade launcher only. It contains three training rooms from easy to hard, and one even harder room for the leaderboard. His other release TrainingGrounds is a training-only map, which means there is no start/finish. As such it will not appear on this website.

Finally, BT 4.5.1 went live in November to fix some minor bugs and a series of game-breaking exploits. That includes, feign death based exploits (you can no longer feign death, unless in practice mode for fun), bunnyhopping, undesired extra boots, and forcefield super bounce.

2019 going strong

We are starting a solid year 2019 with 3 additional new maps to perfect your skills on !

Sebastien_Klof is entering the BT mapping scene with the first weapons-focused map in the game ! Beware, H.O.P is extremely difficult as most timings and angles are very strict ! Fortunately, sebastien also spoiled us with a more accessible version of the map, for those who are not (yet) familiar with weapon jumping physics. Everyone should have a shot at finishing H.O.P Lite !

Hyp3-R has lost a lot in hdd woes, but not his motivation. He is coming back now with another great map ! Osiris is purely movement based this time, and pretty difficult as usual. It also looks really good with a nice egyptian theme, vibes from previous UT titles !

Before going away travelling the world again, irridium77 left us another gift ! ChatoKeK is another one of his well known long, puzzley, and good looking BT map to expand on the line of Indus & LavaKeK. As usual, nothing extraordinarily hard, but the puzzles will take you good while to figure out !

BT chrismas

Our personal santa (irridium77) is delivering us 3 new maps to stress our keyboards on !

Hopefully we should get even more maps soon as several people are currently mapping !

Happy 2019 jumping !

BT Website and synchronized hubs database

With BT4.5 bringing in support for external data endpoints, the long-awaited database-syncing has been setup and is now kicking in TFN and Absolute hubs !

Whether you are playing on your favorite hub, or showing off across continent, now your records will follow you everywhere !

The hubs are connected directly to a common external database, so updates should be more or less in real time.
In addition, this BT Website is available to look up all current records in database, along with some other stuff like this news page.

All existing data from both hubs have been migrated and merged !
Note that the new database has more fields than before, so some of the fields shown there may not make much sense with the migrated data, unfortunately.

This website is obviously still work in progress, mobile support is not done yet, and let's not talk about Internet Explorer. But it is good enough to start with !

Have fun climbing the now world-wide leaderboards !

BT 4.4 - “keybinds edition” is now live!

HUB owners download here!

FEATURES

  • Added a help menu to describe gamemode and features and keybinds. Menu appears on first join and has to be toggled off, forcing players to read it. After that it will remain available on keybind (H)
  • Added ability to rebind most BT keybinds, with console command mutate btbind ACTION. Actions are described in help menu

CHANGES

  • Keytracker is now enabled by default. Keybind K was removed. Toggle with mutate keytracker instead. The setting is persistent
  • Cleaned up top-left HUD keybinds to leave only "H for Help"
  • Nerfed ragdolls a bit more (duration/frequency) to avoid performance issues in map like OneShot
  • Gamemode now uses a (supposedly) more accurate timer method, hopefully this should fix the major desyncs happening especially in long games
  • Ingame spec now has a keybind, F12 by default

BUG FIXES

  • Game should no longer kick ingame specs at end of match
  • Fixed third person ingame spec
  • Checkpoints should not be reactivated immediately upon respawn, causing issues like incorrect HP or inventory resaving. Game also double-restores health to make up for damage that sometimes come right after respawning
  • Fixed leaderboard alignments at ranks 10+
  • Fixed CPs and custom CPs sometimes blocking shots
  • UI should now work properly in offline play

Welcome to UT4 Bunnytracks!

Description

Similarly to Defrag for Quake and Trials for UT2004, Bunnytrack is a movement-training gamemode designed for UT4. Learn, practice, and master the game's movement system by completing community-created levels of varying difficulty. Once you have mastered the basics, make a name for yourself in the leaderboards by running maps as fast as possible!

Features

  • BT Objects: some maps are less focused on raw movement technique, and offer instead more puzzley mechanics involving buttons, targets, or keys… Look out for those if you stumble upon closed doors, disabled jump pads, or force fields…
  • Checkpoints (CP): as a part of the map, checkpoints are here to help you. Touch them to save your current health & loadout, and you will respawn there if you die. A checkpoint lasts until you touch another checkpoint, or finish the map, or restart the map through the Reset keybind.
  • Custom CPs: you can drop your own personal checkpoints almost anywhere in the maps. To do so, make sure you are in a safe place, and hold the keybind while standing still. Using custom checkpoints puts you in “practice mode”, and your run will not be registered if you finish. You can get out of practice mode by restarting the map, either through the Reset keybind or by finishing the map.
  • Ingame spec: at any moment you can enter spectator mode, leaving your character in place, without having to reconnect or die. Use it to look around corners, or spectate your mates and learn complex moves in first person view. Very useful to understand advanced movement techniques.

Keybinds

Bunnytrack has a number of custom keybinds for specific actions and features. The default keybinds are :

  • P : suicide and respawn at last checkpoint
  • O (hold) : place a custom checkpoint
  • I : show leaderboard
  • H : toggle Help screen
  • Backspace : reset/restart the map
  • F12 : enter ingame spectator mode

Keybinds can be changed through the console command

mutate btbind ACTION

Where ACTION is one of : respawn , customcp , leaderboard , help , reset , spectate
